Job Purpose
Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Director of Finance - Retail and Real Estate, will be responsible for the real estate and retail operations. The Finance Director will play a strategic role and ensure the execution of the strategic plan for these divisions. He/She will be responsible for managing the finance team, ensuring compliance of financial statements with accounting standards, as well as the implementation, improvement, and evaluation of internal controls.
Assigned Responsibilities
- Provide general accounting supervision, preparation of entries, and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis;
- Participate in timely monthly and annual closing activities and preparation of monthly financial statements for management;
- Participate in the integration of our various acquisitions at the accounting and financial level to help achieve growth and cost-reduction synergies;
- Provide leadership in financial reporting compliance;
- Contribute to strengthening the internal controls program over financial reporting;
- Play a key role in the execution of the company's growth strategy by participating in growth projects and mergers/acquisitions;
- Participate in the development of annual planning in line with the company's strategic plan, managing the team's priorities and timelines;
- Play a key role in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and quarterly updates;
- Provide supervision and professional development to team members by acting as a resource person;
- Encourage excellence for all team members by creating a culture of continuous improvement;
- Any other related tasks.
Success Factors
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting;
- Professional accounting designation (CPA);
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role;
- Experience in team management;
- Good command of computerized management and accounting systems;
- Fluency in French and English (oral and written).
