The Legal Counsel will review draft contracts and RFPs via the online contract management tool to determine contractual risks and develop alternative contractual positions for negotiation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Draft various contracts including: Confidentiality Agreements, Service and Goods Purchase Agreements and other contracts related to the procurement of goods and services, as well as any other contracts;
  • Participation in the implementation of internal procedures;
  • Negotiate contractual terms with suppliers;
  • Responding to any legal issues and making recommendations on actions to be taken when necessary;
  • Perform administrative and management functions related to contracts, their signature and renewal in liaison with the various internal managers;
  • Carry out various ongoing follow-ups of active contracts, including insurance renewals and validity;
  • Administer the contractual pool, including notifying an operational manager on due dates and contractual issues and financial risks (= establish and maintain filing systems, according to the principles established for the management of documents and legal procedures, and frequently monitor the security of confidential documents) ;
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies in force;
  • Other related mandates.

Success Factors:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Management, Administration with an option in Supply Management or Operations and Logistics Management or equivalent experience;
  • You must be fluent in legal and business English (written and oral);
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a comparable position in a procurement department or equivalent;
  • Proficiency in word processing (word) at the beginner level and spreadsheet (excel) at the intermediate level;
  • Knowledge of powerpoint software an asset;
  • Bilingualism required;
  • Position based in our Montreal office.
